Joel Renner joined EAB in 2019 following seven years on the leadership team for the George Washington University School of Business Career Center. His work as a higher education administrator spans more than a dozen years, covering a wide swath of the industry including career development, student success, marketing, technology management, systems implementation, and student and alumni engagement. As a Strategic Leader in Research at EAB, he now leverages these experiences as he partners with leaders at private institutions to implement best practices from EAB’s extensive library.
Originally hailing from Alaska, Joel spent time playing soccer in Europe before returning to the States and earning his degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he studied ancient and medieval history, philosophy, and cultural geography. Over the course of his career, he has fostered his particular passion for utilizing social media to build community online and to bring these virtual connections into real-world spaces. Since 2015, Joel has served as eduWeb Digital Summit Conference Chair, educating higher education marketers, communications professionals, and leadership developing comprehensive strategies for enrollment, retention, technology, and growth. He now lives in the Washington, DC, area with his wife and two children. When he's not collaborating with partners or chasing down his kids, he spends his time enjoying soccer (or football, if you're from outside the U.S.), reading, music, and cooking.
Joel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Wisconsin Green Bay in History, Philosophy, and Cultural Geography.
