Summary Student engagement in the learning environment is a top concern for many school administrators given its demonstrated impact on student success. This research explores how district leaders to scale effective practices across a district and to encourage teachers to adopt effective teaching strategies. Focusing on active learning and personalized learning in particular, this report discusses the implementation processes, school support staff, and ongoing teacher professional development related to student engagement initiatives. Key observations from our research 1. Active learning and personalized learning are two common models leaders at profiled district use to increase engagement in classroom material. 2. A database of successful teaching strategies gives administrators concrete examples of techniques to reference. 3. Contacts encourage administrators to create engaging, customizable professional development sessions. 4.
