Executive Roundtable for Heads of School

This event has passed.
In today’s rapidly changing world, the winners will be those that choose to write the playbook. But how can independent schools embrace bold changes while maintaining their identity and honoring the past? In 2022 and beyond, every head of school will need an answer to this question. This fall, EAB invites you to spend protected time with a select group of peers at a two-day summit in Washington DC. This intimate event will use EAB’s latest research as the foundation for deep discussion around how heads can challenge the status quo and create a culture of continuous evolution that will keep their institutions ahead of the tide in the unpredictable years ahead. Sessions are limited to Heads of School.

About Our Past Event

In today’s rapidly changing world, the winners will be those that choose to write the playbook. But how can independent schools embrace bold changes while maintaining their identity and honoring the past? In 2022 and beyond, every head of school will need an answer to this question.

This fall, EAB invites you to spend protected time with a select group of peers at a two-day summit in Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA. This intimate event will use EAB’s latest research as the foundation for deep discussion around how heads can challenge the status quo and create a culture of continuous evolution that will keep their institutions ahead of the tide in the unpredictable years ahead.

This session are limited to Heads of School. Registration for this session is limited to one attendee per institution.

Day One will begin approximately at 1:00 p.m. and finish at approximately 5:00 p.m. A reception and dinner for heads of school will begin shortly thereafter.

Day Two will begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish at approximately 12:15 p.m.

  • Research Presentations
Informed by recent surveys and interviews with heads of school nationwide, EAB researchers will share insights and practical strategies to help heads of school increase success and sustainability for their schools, their staff, and themselves.
  • Facilitated Debate
Great research unearths new answers, but also new questions. EAB experts will engage participants in discussion about emerging strategic questions that deserve debate and begin to form answers on critical issues before the need becomes urgent.

Potential topics include:

  • Pipeline Development in the Donor Investment Era
The average age of ultra-high net worth individuals has dropped 11 years from age 58 to 47 in the last five years alone. Heads of school and advancement leaders must be prepared to pivot strategies to elevate the mid-level donor experience and realign their engagement value proposition. This session will provide heads with guidance for accelerating future major gift donors through the donor pipeline and scalable pipeline development strategies to elevate the mid-level donor experience.
  • Applying Design Principles to Evolve the Independent School Leadership Model
The demands of running an independent school have grown significantly more complex over the past few decades. In response, heads of school have taken on the operational and management tasks of CEOs in addition to the traditional responsibilities of headmasters. Leadership teams have ballooned to accommodate new workstreams and expertise demands. In this session, heads of school will learn how to assess their current leadership models against research- based organizational design principles to ensure they are deliberately and strategically evolving their organizational structures to meet the operational and educational demands of today.
  • Investing in Faculty Morale
Incredible faculty and staff are central to the value of an independent school education. But after three years of turmoil many feel unable to bring their best work to the classroom, let alone engage in strategic initiatives. Nothing new will stick until this story changes. Independent school leaders now need a concrete plan for rebuilding energy, engagement, and capacity for progress across every department and division.
