Far too many students are not able to read at an early age, and 75 percent of students who do not read proficiently by 3rd grade never reach reading proficiency in future grades. Disrupted learning from COVID-19 only further exacerbated reading challenges, with almost all subgroups of students experiencing a drop in the NAEP Reading Scores.  With the ramifications of pandemic-related missed learning now becoming fully realized, learning to read has never been more important.
