Build a Data-Responsive Campus

CIOs are operating in a moment where data demands across campus are escalating quickly, even as confidence in data infrastructure, governance, and capacity remains uneven. Expectations for AI-enabled insights, real-time reporting, and regulatory compliance are rising at the same time institutions are navigating staffing constraints, legacy systems, and growing cybersecurity risk.

This session will begin with a brief framing of why data readiness has become a prerequisite for both AI adoption and institutional decision-making. From there, the discussion will focus on how CIOs are responding to intensifying data demands from cabinet leaders, regulators, and campus partners, and where foundational gaps most often derail progress.

This session is designed as a candid, peer-driven conversation centered on questions CIOs are actively addressing, including:

• Why AI is amplifying challenges surrounding data quality, governance, and security rather than bypassing them
• Where unmanaged, inconsistent, or outdated data creates risk for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases
• How CIOs are rethinking data ownership, architecture, and governance models to support scale
• What it takes to balance faster access to insights with stronger controls and accountability

Participants will hear how peers are strengthening data foundations, responding to new compliance and reporting pressures, and positioning their institutions to make better use of data without increasing institutional risk.

This session originally debuted at EAB’s 2026 Roundtable for Chief Information Officers and is best suited for Chief Information Officers, Deputy and Associate CIOs, and senior IT leaders responsible for data, analytics, governance, and institutional reporting. Registration is limited to two attendees per institution.
