    Background

Adelphi University faced limitations with a 40-year-old homegrown ERP system and lacked a centralized governance structure to manage institutional data effectively. Leadership recognized the need to modernize core systems, strengthen data integrity, and align IT priorities with institutional strategy.

    Outcome

Through its multi-year partnership with EAB, Adelphi established a sustainable data governance model, enhanced leadership decision-making, and positioned itself for ERP transformation. With board approval to move forward, the university is now leveraging EAB’s expertise and peer connections to modernize systems, ensure data cleanliness, and adopt best practices that will strengthen its technology and strategic foundations for years to come.

Steps to Adelphi’s Success

  1. Building a Foundation for Data Governance (2023)

Adelphi participated in EAB’s Enterprise Data Management Collaborative (EDMC), establishing its first institution-wide data governance framework. The process provided a roadmap for improving data quality, aligning stakeholders, and creating a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  2. Strengthening Strategic Leadership and Prioritization (2024)

At Adelphi’s IT Leadership Retreat, EAB’s Higher Education’s Reckoning with Relevance presentation helped the university link national higher education trends—public trust, enrollment, and AI adoption—to local strategic goals. The IT division implemented a “do less with less” prioritization model to guide project governance and resource allocation.
  3. Enhancing Data Maturity and AI Readiness (2024)

EAB’s Data Governance Survey and 84 Data Points Framework were adopted to track maturity and identify key metrics for leadership reporting. Networking with peers such as Babson College through shared partnership with EAB deepened Adelphi’s understanding of AI-readiness and data integrity strategies.
  4. Launching ERP Modernization Planning (2025)

Armed with insights from EAB’s frameworks and peer examples, Adelphi gained board approval to pursue a new ERP system. EAB supported the CIO and VP for Infrastructure, Technology, and Safety through the RFP review and SME consultation process, ensuring alignment with best practices and national benchmarks.
