Lessons from Spring Board Meetings to Strengthen Fall Execution
Partner Event
With growing pressure on institutions to demonstrate clear strategy and decisive leadership, board time must be structured to drive alignment and action, not just updates. Heads of strategy are invited this session, intentionally scheduled for the conclusion of the spring board season, to reflect on the effectiveness of recent board meetings and strategize with EAB and peers about effective board meeting management for the fall.
This discussion-based session connects reflection with forward planning, helping participants refine how they design and run board meetings. Through guided prompts and peer exchange, attendees will:
- Reflect on what resonated and what missed the mark in spring board meetings
- Redesign agendas to prioritize strategic decisions and reduce low-value updates
- Identify the most effective pre-meeting materials, data, and framing to prepare trustees
- Share tactics for managing boardroom dynamics, including navigating strong personalities and encouraging balanced participation
- Explore ways to keep discussions focused and drive toward clear, actionable outcomes
Attendees will leave with practical strategies to improve both the structure and execution of fall board meetings, ensuring stronger engagement, clearer alignment, and more productive governance conversations.
