In the face of intensifying competition, rising recruitment costs, and softening international enrolments, UK universities need a clearer view of how recruitment investment translates into student revenue. Many institutions are investing more heavily in scholarships and agent commissions, chasing numbers often at the expense of margin.

Join EAB for a 30-minute virtual introduction to our Cost of Acquisition Calculator, a practical reporting and modelling tool designed to help institutions understand their cost of acquisition (COA) and net tuition revenue (NTR) across markets and programmes. The calculator uses institutional inputs—including tuition fees, scholarship spend, agent commissions, and enrolment figures—to report on existing COA and NTR and model changes in enrolment mid-cycle or for next year’s intake.

During the session, we will show how the calculator can help institutions build a more consistent view of recruitment costs alongside programme and market-level performance. We will also preview the calculator’s scenario modelling capabilities, which allow teams to report on the potential financial implications of changes to recruitment spend, scholarships, agent commissions, and enrolment mix.

Participants will:

  • Learn how institutions can leverage existing recruitment and financial data to measure cost of acquisition and net tuition revenue
  • Explore the key drivers of international student recruitment costs
  • See how scenario modelling can support recruitment planning and market prioritisation
  • Preview EAB’s Cost of Acquisition Calculator and its reporting capabilities
