The number of California school superintendents leaving their jobs is climbing, despite increased salaries and benefits. Some have reached retirement age or are moving to less stressful jobs.

In a report released earlier this year by the education consulting firm EAB, a growing number of teachers said they were the targets of disruptive behavior in their classes, and the number of teachers who said they saw physical violence between students more than doubled.

Gateway Technical College has announced its participation in the Moon Shot for Equity, a national student success initiative led by Washington, D.C.-based education firm EAB to help more students from historically underserved populations graduate from college.

Based on a survey of 20,000 high school students, a report released earlier this summer by the consulting firm EAB showed over a fifth of them felt unprepared for college − up from 14% in 2019.

In 2017, EAB listed Virginia Tech as one of the three schools rethinking general education along with Northern Illinois University and University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. This was based on the “experiential learning” provided at Tech. The Pathways Program’s innovation has become well-known to many educational organizations, like EAB, due to its forward-thinking approach to general education.

Starting next year, Spring Hill College will offer free graduate school tuition to freshmen who complete a bachelor’s degree at the college within four years.

More than half of today’s college students are first-generation, and some of the country’s most populous states just so happen to have the highest concentration of such learners.

AI is already being used to administer benefits on college campuses. Campus Reform previously reported that colleges are starting to use AI to determine financial aid packages for prospective students, partnering with firms like EAB to help their admissions teams through the use of “enrollment algorithms,” which “predict the likelihood that a student will enroll in an institution after being offered admission.”

Preston will play a prominent role in student success efforts including oversight of EAB Navigate, Texas State’s new student success technology platform, and provide leadership in creating a collaborative university- wide culture for student success.
