In the last two years, CIOs and their teams had to take the front seat in the COVID crisis, navigating change and constant short-term disruptions. Now, it’s time for CIOs to re-focus on the long term.

But radical shifts in student and staff expectations about how to learn and work means that returning to neglected past priorities won’t be enough; IT leaders must actively champion new visions of a multi-modal, competitive, digitally empowered campus.

At this roundtable, EAB will convene CIOs to discuss how institutions can best shape emerging institutional strategies even while dealing with an unprecedented IT talent crisis. We’ll consider what higher ed institutions and their CIOs must do to become the institution of choice—for their students, their talent, their research funding—in a context of post-pandemic scarcity. We’ll take a deep dive into the evolution of technology-enabled student and academic spaces and review essential questions shaping how technology can cultivate a modern student experience. Finally, we’ll discuss the steps CIOs can take to improve retention of IT staff in the midst of labor market volatility and extraordinary demand for tech talent.
