Mid-Year Momentum Series
Transform Trends Into High-Impact Action With Starfish
Partner Event
This series is a refreshed version of our annual Starfish Reporting and Data in Action cohort, refocused on mid-year analysis of fall interventions. The goal is to help institutions assess what’s working, identify emerging trends, and use Starfish reporting and process metrics to inform targeted adjustments for the remainder of the academic year.
Participants will use Starfish data and reporting capabilities to validate assumptions, surface meaningful metrics, and translate findings into actionable insights. Each institution will also receive a practical toolkit designed to support in-session work and guide continued analysis and storytelling in partnership with their Strategic Leader after the series concludes. While the cohort highlights Operational and Strategic Analytics, it also incorporates approaches relevant to Starfish Core, making the series accessible to all Starfish partners.
Session One – Clarify Your Questions & Define Your Scope
This working session focuses on using early-term and fall data to sharpen the mid-year questions that matter most. Participants will reflect on fall interventions and identify where momentum, vulnerability, or engagement patterns warrant closer attention heading into spring.
You’ll define a clear hypothesis and align on the specific Starfish metrics needed to evaluate progress and uncover insight.
Session Two – Pull and Prepare Your Data
In this applied session, participants will review the process to extract and structure data using Starfish reporting tools. The focus will be on building a purposeful data pull—isolating meaningful metrics, organizing outputs, and preparing datasets for interpretation and trend analysis tied directly to your mid-year questions.
Session Three – Transform Insights into a Compelling Story (Joint Session)
This collaborative, workshop-style session centers on translating mid-year findings into a clear, compelling narrative that resonates with leadership and campus partners. Participants will work directly with a Strategic Leader to refine positioning and messaging, with support from the Partner Support team to address functional questions and optimize use of Starfish data and reporting features.
Participants will learn how to:
- Build a focused, evidence-based case study from mid-year Starfish data
- Apply EAB’s storytelling and case-building framework to analytic findings
- Shape insights into narratives suitable for leadership presentations or CONNECTED conference Call For Proposal submissions
