Moon Shot and Transfer Pathways with Dr. Teri Longacre

Join fellow Moon Shot partners to hear how the University of Houston (UH) has streamlined pathways to ensure a seamless and successful transfer between institutions. Dr. Teri Longacre and Cindy Mejia will present on Houston Guided Pathways to Success (Houston GPS), an integrated system of cohesive, interdependent strategies that are designed to increase and accelerate student completion and smooth two-year to four-year college transfer while improving educational quality for Houston area students. There are thirteen participating institutions serving more than three hundred thousand students in the Houston metropolitan area. Dr. Teri Longacre, J.D., Ph.D., is responsible for articulating and implementing a strategic vision for the university’s undergraduate student success efforts, including academic advising, research opportunities, improvement of academic programs, and enrollment management. Teri Elkins Longacre currently serves as Senior Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Student Success in the Office of the Provost and is an Associate Professor of Management at the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, where she joined the faculty in 1997. Teri previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the Bauer College of Business and as the UH Faculty and Staff Ombudsperson.

Cindy Mejia is Executive Director for Student Success Strategies at the University of Houston. Cindy has over ten years of experience in higher education. Previously, she served as Chief of Staff to the UH Senior Vice Chancellor/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost for nine years. During that time, she assisted in the establishment and implementation of Houston GPS and other student success initiatives. Prior to joining UH, Cindy worked for Complete College America and aided in their efforts to increase college completion rates and close equity gaps by working with states, systems, institutions, and partners to scale structural reforms and promote policies that improve student success.
