Due to increased awareness about campus safety and interest from community members, administrators at profiled institutions are currently expanding active shooter safety protocol. 2. Active shooter safety protocol coordinates emergency responses for institutional and regional law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical response (EMS) teams. 3. During active shooting incidents, administrators use multiple forms of communication to update community members, including phone calls, emails, text messages, and loudspeaker systems. 4. University police departments deliver safety trainings to faculty, staff, and students on a by-request basis.
