Executive Roundtable for District Superintendents: Rebuilding the Conditions for Schools to Thrive
These days, the success of public schools is too often determined by what happens outside the classroom. As a result, superintendents are working harder than ever before just to make it possible for teachers to teach and students to learn. Declining trust in public institutions, ideologically divided communities, and employees frayed by a roller coaster of variants have left district leaders playing defense for too long.
In summer 2022, EAB invited district leaders to participate in an exclusive, two-day summit designed to help superintendents create the conditions for their schools to thrive.
Agenda highlights
Navigating divisive conversations and preventing district flashpoints
District leaders are spending twice the time combatting political and social flashpoints at a time when student outcomes and morale are at all-time lows. Superintendents need a new approach to flashpoint response that recognizes the complexity and nuance of today’s problems.
We shared lessons from out of industry to show how to quickly deconstruct a complex flashpoint into its simple parts and then deploy appropriate strategies accordingly. We shared how superintendents can do this, thus reducing the likelihood that complex flashpoints will drag on and derail regular work toward strategic priorities.
Pathways to postsecondary success: How EAB can bring together K-12 and higher ed
Nothing breeds calm better than stories of success. We provided practical strategies that districts can deploy to help those students impacted by the disruptions of the pandemic graduate with confidence and successfully transition to their next chapter. Superintendents learned how to enable and celebrate these stories to re-build a culture of confidence in the months and years ahead.
Supporting successful and sustainable principal leadership
A skilled and collaborative team is critical to the success of every district (and superintendent). But before the pandemic, seven in 10 principals felt ill-prepared for the realities of their role. How many would answer differently today? We explored how the integration of cutting-edge leadership strategies from beyond the education industry can better equip principals to navigate today’s complex landscape. Plus, we outlined steps to best support principals through the reality of their role.
