K-12 Student Mental Health and Wellness Resource Center

The District Leadership Forum has compiled a list of tools from our EAB colleagues in our higher education and independent schools practices to help district leaders address the mental health and wellness needs of their students. We invite K-12 leaders and decision makers to utilize these tools, research briefs, and more as they work to better meet their students’ needs.

This resource center is divided into distinct areas:

Student stress

Tackling the Student Stress Dilemma

District Leadership Forum Study

School leaders are increasingly confronted with unprecedented levels of student stress. As more students struggle with clinical mental health issues, this stress can also manifest in maladaptive behaviors, academic misconduct, substance abuse, and poor physical health. This study identifies practices for improving student health and well-being.

Student Mental Health Toolkit

District Leadership Forum Toolkit

Between rigorous course loads and numerous extra-curricular activities, students today are busier and more stressed than ever. This toolkit addresses student mental health and wellness in four key areas: supporting students in crisis, deploying time in a student-centric way, reframing college admissions, and equipping students with life skills.

Mental health services

Student Mental Health Tools

Student Affairs Forum Toolkit

Campuses face a big hurdle in connecting students to counseling services, both because of a lack of awareness and the stigma attached to these services. This toolkit provides strategies to connect more students with mental health services, discover effective stigma reduction tactics, and access audits for responding to three types of crises on campus.

Serving Students with Histories of Trauma

District Leadership Forum Research Brief

This brief explores interventions for students with behavioral concerns that stem from histories of trauma. The report discusses in-classroom support systems, support service coordination, and professional development resources for school staff members.
