Use the resources in this toolkit to help improve your district or school’s connections. Statements within the connected condition help school leaders and teachers foster intentional relationships with all members of the school community (i.e., students, families, staff, and teachers) that create a strong sense of belonging.
Increasing connectedness among all members of your school community helps students feel more represented in their education, engage in social settings, and succeed in their academic pursuits.

Student-to-Adult Relationships
Use the tools in this resource if you responded neutral, disagree, or strongly disagree with any of the following statements:
- Teachers and/or staff at my school interact with each of their students individually to intentionally gain insight on their personalities, strengths, and goals.
- Teachers and/or staff at my school welcome students into the classroom by greeting them at the door before class begins.
- Our school formally tracks that students have at least one positive relationship with a trusted adult in the building.
- Our school provides volunteer and/or mentoring opportunities for parents/guardians and community members to work directly with students.

Student-to-Student Relationships

- Teachers and/or staff at my school organize team-building exercises and activities for their students each week.
- Teachers and/or staff at my school ensure students have weekly opportunities to develop interpersonal skills (e.g., active listening, speaking) by regularly (i.e., daily) integrating partner activities, group projects and/or full class discussions into student learning.
- Our school formally tracks that all students have at least one positive relationship with a peer in the building.

- Our school provides opportunities for parents/guardians to be involved in their student’s academic journey (e.g., school volunteer opportunities, school events).
