Adapting to Changes in Financial Aid Policy
Partner Event
Every institution will be impacted by changes to federal aid, from shifts in student aid and loan policies to workforce reductions at the Department of Education and subsequent disruptions in program management.
Amid a crisis of public confidence and growing non-consumption, it is essential to take steps to generate sustainable levels of net tuition revenue without placing the financial burden on students alone. Campus leaders can act now educate students, families, and alumni about the consequences of proposed changes, and to advocate to stakeholders about the need for continued bipartisan support to fund Pell Grants and other federal aid programs.
During this session, EAB Vice President, Financial Aid Optimization Brett Schraeder and Senior Director Ben Court will:
- Discuss changes to student aid and loan policies, focusing on those most vulnerable to funding losses under reconciliation following the March Congressional Resolution
- Examine additional proposals that could impact higher education affordability, introduce risk-sharing for institutions, and shift more of the financial burden onto students
- Explore how you can collaborate with peers to identify levers for legislative advocacy and share best practices for targeted lobbying based on segmentation, state, and proportion of students receiving various forms of aid.
