Part II: Targeting the Murky Middle for rapid ROI

Hear Rick Sluder, Vice Provost at MTSU, explain why he is focusing on the Murky Middle student population to realize the highest return on investment.

Rick Sluder and his team at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) have embraced research from the Student Success Collaborative on the "Murky Middle," the sizeable but often overlooked group of students who manage to complete their first year with a GPA between 2.0 and 3.0 but still stand a good chance of departing before graduating. Many student success initiatives tend to target first-year students, but 52% of attrition occurs after the first year. More than half of those late stage drop-outs are within the Murky Middle.

Students in the Murky Middle represent a big opportunity for return on investment. Hear how the SSC platform helps advisors at MTSU retain this group.
