High-Performance District Roundtable: Strategic Planning 2.0: How to Fix a Broken Process
Over the past two years, a growing number of superintendents have expressed dissatisfaction with traditional strategic planning. Districts invest significant time and energy in developing plans that reflect the needs of their students, schools, and communities. But those plans often leave leadership teams feeling overwhelmed and can quickly be pushed to the side as new and urgent challenges land on the “schoolhouse steps.” This session is intended to inspire discussion about how to forge a new path forward, leveraging EAB research on alternative models for strategic planning found across K-12 and higher education. During this roundtable, we will discuss:
- Why school systems need to rethink traditional approaches to strategic planning
- How alternative approaches to strategic planning can produce markedly different results
- How to build a best-in-class system for district strategy and planning using the best of those models
In light of recent events, this session will also provide space for superintendents to discuss the rapidly changing Federal policy landscape.
