A Conversation on Long-Term Talent Strategy in a World with Fewer People

Thursday, May 21, 2026, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM ET

Colleges and universities are entering a decade defined by demographic decline, intensified competition for talent, and sustained financial pressure. Backfilling vacancies and preserving legacy structures will not be enough. Institutions must rethink how work gets done, how roles are structured, and where limited talent can drive the greatest impact.

This virtual follow-up builds on our in-person presentation and creates space for additional candid, peer-driven conversation. Designed as a discussion rather than a presentation, the session gives leaders an opportunity to share how they are beginning to respond—and where they are encountering friction.

In this session, participants will:

  • Share early actions taken to redesign roles, reprioritize initiatives, or address persistent vacancies
  • Discuss implementation challenges, resistance points, and political realities on their campuses
  • Explore strategies to align workforce decisions with long-term enrollment, financial, and mission goals
  • Identify 1–2 practical next steps informed by peer insight

This session is for leaders ready to move from analysis to execution, and ensure their institution is prepared for a future workforce with fewer people and higher expectations.
