Learn how to craft a speech and expression policy for your school with this on-demand webinar. Incorporating clear expectations for faculty, students, and staff can help prevent flashpoints. Flashpoints are the new normal—we know that heads of school are being asked to respond to incivility in the classroom and events off campus. Flashpoints come from many different actors (e.g., schools themselves, third-party organizations or activists, and faculty, staff, or students) and span a wide range of issues. Schools should provide their communities with proactive guidance on speech and expression, EAB will outline how in this session.
This resource is part of the Promote a Culture of Civility on Independent School Campuses Roadmap. Access the Roadmap for stepwise guidance with additional tools and research.
In this session, we will learn how Riverdale Country School built a robust and comprehensive Statement on Campus Discourse. This statement connects school’s mission with the expectations for civil discourse on campus. Riverdale is taking a very intentional approach to educating and communicating their parents, students, and faculty about the statement and embedding it within their community norms.
Learn from experience and expertise from leaders at Riverdale who will answer questions and offer detailed information on the Statement on Campus Discourse creation and communication process. EAB will guide participants through how to create a statement on speech and expression for your school.
