Meet The Expert
Melanie leads higher education research at EAB, overseeing twelve research forums and over a hundred staff that provide strategic guidance to thousands of college and university executives annually. She is responsible for general management of the research business: strategy development, research oversight, product innovation, talent management, and meeting financial targets. She is also one of EAB's primary spokespeople, regularly facilitating presidential roundtables and university board and leadership retreats to discuss strategy and innovation.
Prior to joining EAB in 2008, Melanie taught introductory literature courses at UCLA while earning her Ph.D. in English, specializing in early-twentieth-century American fiction. She served on several faculty committees, including the Executive Committees of the College of Letters and Science and the English Department, and chaired the board of directors of ASUCLA, the $75-million organization that operates the bookstores, restaurants, and trademarks and licensing at UCLA.
In her free time, she enjoys art and creative writing.
Melanie received her Ph.D. in English, M.A. in English, and B.A. in Policy and Media Studies (self-designed major) from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
