EAB’s Voice of the Superintendent survey is an annual initiative to provide district leaders with insight into the mindset, perspectives, and experiences of their peers across the country. Each year, survey questions are developed by reviewing research requests and interview notes from superintendents over the previous twelve months, then crafted to provide superintendents with actionable insights to inform their work in the year ahead.
In 2023, EAB learned that almost every issue—student success, employee engagement, and community interactions—had deteriorated since 2019, but the greatest concern was staffing shortages (Read the 2023 Voice of the Superintendent Survey Executive Brief here).
This year, we follow up on the challenges that topped the list in 2023, then ask district leaders to weigh in on issues including the future of differentiated instruction, student enrollment, the role of generative AI, and more.
Take this 12-minute survey to share your unique perspectives on the issues that matter and consider sharing the survey link with other superintendents in your region. A complete report of our findings will be published in February 2024.
