Summary This research briefs explores the structure of dual language immersion programs at Texas public school districts. Specifically, the brief discuses dual language instructional models and post-elementary opportunities, program demand and attrition, and the recruitment and retention of bilingual program teachers. Key observations from our research 1. Profiled school districts operate two-way dual language immersion programs with 90/10 or 80/20 models to develop bilingual students. 2. Offer post-elementary school opportunities for dual language students to continue to develop and apply Spanish language knowledge. 3. Foster community among parents through cultural events.Support dual language immersion program teachers through professional development, leadership opportunities, and additional compensation.
