Executive summary
Provisions of the Affordable Care Act are taking effect over the next half-decade and health care employers have a deadline to transform care delivery electronic record-keeping. Health informatics—the capture, exchange and analysis of massive amounts of patient data to improve the quality of clinical care—is the fastest-growing field in health care, with new programs mushrooming across the country.
To help members refine local and national marketing strategies, this initiative examines health informatics through the lens of employer demand—what cities have the most job postings, what specific titles are in highest demand, and what career paths are emerging at the lower and upper levels of the field that can be woven into a sequential “lifelong learning” paths for repeat students.
