Academic Program Revitalization Collaborative
Partner Event
Academic programs face growing pressure from shifting student demand, changing labor-market needs, and increased scrutiny of outcomes and value. Deans must not only identify programs that need attention but equip academic leaders to make coordinated changes that increase student demand, strengthen employer demand, or both.
The Program Revitalization Implementation Collaborative helps department chairs, vice deans, program directors, and faculty leaders turn a priority program’s revitalization goal into action. Across interactive virtual sessions and between-session office hours, participants will select the right mix of EAB’s five revitalization levers and evidence-informed tactics, build stakeholder commitment, and create an implementation and measurement plan.
The Five-Session Collaborative Journey
- Session 1: Define What Success Looks Like
- Participants will translate the Dean’s rationale for selecting the program into a clear, measurable revitalization goal tied to increasing student demand, strengthening employer demand, or both.
- Session 2: Build Your Program Revitalization Strategy
- Participants will explore the five levers of program revitalization—Strengthen Positioning, Expand Accessibility, Modernize Content, Redesign Learning, and Articulate Outcomes—along with examples of how other institutions have put them into practice. They will identify the combination of levers and tactics most likely to achieve their program’s revitalization goal.
- Session 3: Turn Strategy Into an Actionable Design
- Participants will translate their selected tactics into a coordinated implementation approach, identifying what needs to change, who needs to be involved, what decisions or approvals are required, and how individual tactics reinforce one another.
- Session 4: Build the Roadmap and Measures for Success
- Participants will turn their revitalization strategy into a concrete implementation roadmap with clear milestones, owners, dependencies, and measures of progress.
- Session 5: Measure Progress, Remove Barriers, and Sustain Momentum
- Participants will assess progress against their original goal, work with peers and EAB experts to address implementation barriers, and determine where the strategy needs to adapt. They will leave with clear next steps for sustaining the work, continued executive sponsorship, and a plan for monitoring the program’s progress beyond the collaborative.
