Flashpoint Debrief Guide
Use this guide with your team to debrief a recent flashpoint and identify next steps
Debriefing after a campus climate flashpoint is essential to equipping response teams for future success. By holding a debrief, or a meeting in which a crisis response team discusses, interprets, and learns from a flashpoint, institutions can improve team effectiveness and better prepare themselves for future flashpoints. Debriefs, also known as “hotwashes,” were first developed for use in the military and are now used across a range of industries, including higher education.
Use EAB’s guide to set your team up for a productive debrief session, prepare questions to assess your flashpoint response, and plan next steps and areas to improve in the future for crisis management.
