    Background

As AI adoption accelerated, Georgia Tech and the University System of Georgia sought to balance individual campus innovation with collective infrastructure planning. They needed an expert partner to translate national models into actionable local strategies and convene cross-campus collaboration.

    Outcome

EAB’s partnership extended far beyond presentations. Through research frameworks, expert consultations, and agenda design support, EAB helped Georgia Tech advance its AI governance structures and clarify its institutional AI posture. The work also informed early conversations about potential collaboration models across Georgia’s research institutions.

Steps to Georgia Tech’s Success

  1. EAB Engages with Georgia System Campuses (Fall 2024)

EAB joined the Georgia System’s in-person fall convening to share national AI governance and strategy trends. Following the event, EAB experts worked with Georgia Tech’s CIO to translate those insights into a campus-level action plan, providing perspective on how peer institutions are addressing AI governance and informing the committee’s charge and areas of focus.
  2. Operationalizing the Strategy (February 2025)

EAB delivered a custom national briefing using The State of AI in Higher Education and Developing an Institutional Posture to AI Adoption. EAB continued to consult with the CIO on strategic focus areas, governance alignment, and the committee’s ongoing priorities.
  3. Clarifying Institutional Posture (March 2025)

At EAB’s in-person CIO Roundtable in Washington, DC, Georgia Tech identified itself as an Off-the-Shelf Optimizer, using EAB’s AI Posture Framework. EAB provided expert guidance on applying this model—advising on pilot sequencing, vendor partnerships, and leadership communication to sustain alignment.
  4. Designing a Systemwide Approach (Summer–Fall 2025)

As Georgia Tech prepared to host an AI & Datacenter Infrastructure retreat with the USG’s research institutions, EAB partnered with the CIO’s office to shape the initial dialogue and framing questions, drawing on benchmarking and insights from Issues Impacting Data Center Development. This work supported early conversations among the six participating R1 institutions about potential collaboration opportunities and next steps.
  5. Catalyzing Shared Vision (October 2025)

At the AI & Datacenter Infrastructure retreat, EAB’s national briefing on data center collaboration models helped frame the day’s dialogue. The presentation – and the advisory work leading up to it – informed ongoing discussions about future collaboration opportunities among Georgia’s research institutions.

Great to see you today! What can I do for you?
