The Rapid Response School District: Better Planning and Execution Through COVID-19 and Beyond

The coronavirus pandemic has forced school districts to rethink practically every element of their operations and approach to educating students. Now that the initial transition to remote learning has occurred, districts must turn their attention to the fall as they work on preparing schools to succeed through COVID-19 and beyond. Unfortunately, the hardest work is yet to come, as districts must plan for the next school year without knowing what the world will look like.

As a result, districts need to establish an organizational structure that will enable them to respond quickly and efficiently to the challenges ahead, and to prepare to operate schools no matter how the virus, the economy, and government action unfolds over the coming months.

In this short video, EAB researcher Ben Court describes the core components of a “rapid response district,” outlining the teams necessary to expedite the development and execution of strategies and initiatives as well as the key roles that each team must play in order to maximize student success in their schools next year.
